Sequence Dancing - what is that?

Sequence and Old Time dances are set patterns contrived mainly from the normal dancing steps, where all the couples dance the same pattern at the same time and thus do not need well-developed skills to avoid bumping into each other. Sequence clubs exist specifically to cater for this style of dance; we play some Sequence at Tea Dances and Parties but we do not make it a speciality.

The sequence dances you may come across at Avon events are the old standards, including (and this is just a very small selection from a sequence club’s catalogue!):

  • Mayfair Quickstep
  • Woodside Waltz
  • Tango Serida
  • Melody Foxtrot
  • Ragtime Swing
  • Rumba One
  • Sally-Ann Cha Cha Cha
  • Lilac Waltz
  • Saunter Together
  • Balmoral Blues
  • Cindy Swing
